20 minute and 3 hour scintigraphic images of the neck and superior mediastinum were obtained after the administration of ___ millicuries of technetium 99m labeled sestamibi.
Findings:
At 20 minutes, there is normal symmetric uptake of radiotracer within the thyroid and salivary glands. On the delayed images, there is no persistent or asymmetric uptake.
Impression:
1. Parathyroid adenoma not identified, a negative scan does not exclude parathyroid adenoma, recommend surgical consultation if patient has clinical/ lab findings of adenoma.
